Privacy

The short version: plotblock has no accounts, no cookies and no analytics. Your drawings and the photos you import stay in your browser and are not transmitted anywhere. The only data processed are the ones that arise when any website is requested — and, only if you use the font picker, a request to Google Fonts.

This is a translation for convenience. The legally binding version is the German privacy policy.

Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When a page is requested, the provider processes technically necessary access data — among them the IP address, the date and time of the request, the address requested, the amount of data transferred, and details of the browser and operating system. This processing is necessary for the operation and security of the website; the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Data may also be processed in the USA.

Google Fonts — only in the font picker

The list of available typefaces is a file on this server; nothing is fetched for it. As soon as you pick a typeface in the text tool or scroll through the preview list, however, your browser loads the relevant font files directly from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Your IP address is transmitted to Google in the process. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR: the fonts are needed in order to compute the text as outline paths. If you do not use the font picker, no connection to Google is made — the default typeface that ships with the app is on this server.

Data in your browser

plotblock stores a few things locally on your device. This data does not leave your browser, is not visible to me and is not transmitted anywhere:

• Local storage (localStorage): your current document, so that it is back after a reload, plus your screen calibration value and your language choice.
• IndexedDB: the original images you import — so that an import can be readjusted later. The image is not uploaded; vectorisation runs entirely in your browser.

You can remove this data yourself at any time: with “Clear all” in the app, or by deleting the site data for this page in your browser settings.

No cookies, no analytics

No cookies are set, no tracking pixels are loaded and no analytics or advertising services are embedded. There are no user accounts and no sign-up.

Getting in touch

If you send me an email, I process your details in order to deal with your enquiry on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, or, where a contract is involved, (b) GDPR. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for that purpose and no retention obligations apply.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Please use the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR); the authority responsible for me is the Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht Baden-Württemberg.

Changes

This policy is updated whenever something changes in the application that matters for data protection.
